What selection criteria to choose a good project management
software ?
There are several criteria to take into account when you choose
project management software. First of all, it is important to check
that the software has the functionalities you need
to effectively manage your project. These features may include
task scheduling, monitoring of deadlines, management of
budgets and resources, real-time communication with the team, and
the generation of reports. It is also important to choose
an easy to use software, so your team can adopt it
quickly and use it effectively. You should also check that the
software is compatible with the tools your team uses already, such
as online collaboration tools or version management. Finally, the
price of the software is another criterion
important to take into account. It is important to find a balance
between the features offered and the price, to ensure you get the
best value for money. You should also check if the software offers
flexible subscription plans, so you can only pay for the features
you need.
What are the features of a project management software ?
The features of a project management tool can vary from software
to software, but in general, a project management software should
include the following features :
Task planning: the tool should allow you to
create tasks and organize them into different categories, such as
to-do items, tasks in progress, and completed tasks. It should also
be possible to set deadlines for each task, to ensure that the
project remains on time.
Time tracking: the tool should offer features
to track task deadlines, so that you can easily see which tasks are
overdue and take the necessary measures to catch up with them.
Resource management: for projects more
complex, it may be useful to have a tool that allows you to manage
the various resources needed for the project, such as as team
members, budgets, and equipment. The tool should allow assigning
resources to tasks and track resource usage in real time.
Real-time communication: the tool should allow
team members to communicate in time real, to share information, ask
questions, and collaborate effectively.
Reporting: the tool should provide
functionalities to generate reports on the progress of the project,
the resources used, and any problems encountered. These reports can
be useful for tracking project progress and make informed
decisions.
What is the tool most often used to track the evolution of a
project?
The tool most often used to follow the evolution of a project is
the Gantt chart, also called bar chart. This type
of diagram allows you to visualize the project planning in the form
of horizontal bars, each bar representing a project task. The
diagram of Gantt makes it easy to see what tasks are in progress,
which tasks are completed, and which tasks are overdue. Of many
project management software include features to create Gantt
charts, which can be easily shared and updated in real time with
the team. The Gantt chart is a valuable tool for tracking progress
of a project, identifying the tasks that require special attention
and ensuring that the project remains within the expected
deadlines.
What are the most used project management software ?
The most used project management software are Asana,
Trello, and Microsoft Project. These software are popular
in because of their ease of use, their functionalities of planning
and monitoring of tasks, and their integration with other online
collaboration tools.
Asana is an online project management tool
that allows teams manage tasks, track deadlines, and collaborate on
real time.

Thank you for your great work. It had to consume a loot of your time to compare all good tools we have on the market :) I would also add kanbantool.com to the list, becuase (judging by references) it is a pretty good soultion.
Thank you for sharing this high-quality comparison of programs for project management. good list I’d like to suggest one more tool zentao zentao.pm here for project management. This is one of the best project-management products I have ever used. We use zentao to organize our workflow and big projects and it is really easy to stay on top of things with it.
Hi, we appreciate the detailed comparison you have put together. Thanks for sharing these with us!
We are currently looking for a project management tool that will work smoothly together with our favorite project time-tracking and invoicing application zistemo (zistemo.de/...
That's a wonderful comparison. I appreciate how much work you put in it! However, I'm a bit surprised kanbantool.com is not in there. It's such a great tool and I'm sure it's not any worse than the ones you mentioned. In fact, out of all the project management tools I've had to deal with, Kanban Tool has been by far the most user-friendly and productive one. It also has some helpful options, like counting the time of your work. Hopefully next time you'll include that one in your list as well!
Great list. I’d like to suggest one more tool Breakdown structure (breakdownstructure.com/) here for project management. It is a project management software to plan, collaborate, organize and deliver projects of all sizes.
Very useful comparison between different enterprise project management tools. It will be very helpful while choosing a perfect tool for our organization.
