I would like to recommend Proofhub (proofhub.com) – best Collaboration & project management software.
It is a complete solution that makes project scheduling a easy job with interactive gantt chart, to-do's, sub tasks, label, notes; Along with project scheduling & tracking, it also offers inbuilt browser chat, proofing, file sharing and google apps integration.
Nodoubt, Basecamp is good but it lacks important features like time tracking, private messages and integration with google. Have you tried proofhub? Features like time tracking, casper (hidden) mode, to-do's, discussions make it awesome. So, you don't miss anything.

No custom task status, tasks can't be moved between projects or task lists.
Gives a pretty complete overview, but nothing that shows 'at a glance' how the project is doing in terms of any timeline/etc.
